I started dictating this to His Lordship back at Easter time, but you know he’s hardly had any time for me since then. I really don’t like him being out so much. I get a little bored without having him around to gently wind-up through the day. You know the sort of thing, a bit of whining and whinging when he settles down to try to have an afternoon nap; when he’s working at the computer dropping the ball in his lap to remind him that I might need a bit of a jog around the courtyard; giving him the stare but then refusing to go outside for a wee; all designed to keep him on his toes.
I sound a bit cruel but its all a jolly jape because when he goes out I am so sad. I love just having him around. He seems to like me being around as well but sometimes he gets so wrapped up into his “Festival world” I feel very surplus to requirements.
As I say, he has been very busy in recent weeks. Festival has been tinged with sadness this year because one of the new organiser’s suffered a stroke and sadly passed away. The Boss told me that he was a wonderful man who was helping in many ways with his contacts and experience. This rather took the wind out of his sails for a few weeks, and perhaps goes towards explaining why he has not been helping me get this ‘view from the pavement’ completed.
I gather that ticket sales for the Festival have started very well, which means he has been pretty jovial in the last couple of weeks. His Music in the Hall has been sailing along as well, so I gather from him, and one of my favourite ladies was here last month. My friend Hannah Aldridge always fusses me when she visits, I love the fact she calls me a “puppy dog”.
The Old Boy has taken me on a good few walks recently because the weather has been so dry. The riverbank path is so much nicer for me after a few dry days, so often it is really muddy. I get covered in it and that means into the sink for a scrub. I quite enjoy this because I can splash about but the Old bOy always tells me “yoou’re so heavy”. Bit of a cheek in my view, seeing as he must have put on even more weight judging by his shape!
I’m going to end now because I have failed badly in getting my scribble out to my friends. I hope you will forgive me.
Woof! Woof!
