Trevor E Price

It is always said that life is a journey. In the case of artist Trevor E Price nothing could more true.
After a successful corporate business career of 40 years, retirement was forced by his adored wife Christine being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Having been told she only had three months to live, she actually fought her way through a further twelve months during which Trevor learned the truth of being a carer in Britain.

After Chris died, he wrote a book ,“ Shelter From The Storm”, as a tribute to the friends who supported them and her brave personal battle that became one of the inspirations for him to live the rest of his life.
He dealt with her loss by a combination of support from good friends, his family and alcohol. Ultimately he acquired a 3 year old crossbreed Springer spaniel named Dylan Dog who became another of his reason’s to live and was the instigator to a blog, My Dylan Dog, that has now become The Artistic Dog within this website.

After Chris’s death, he down-sized from the country home into a riverside cottage in the heart of the historical town of Bewdley. He became heavily involved in the strong local arts scene, currently acting as chair of the long successful (35 years) annual multi-arts Bewdley Festival whilst also co-organising the monthly Music in the Hall event, often featuring top North American artists.

During the first Covid lockdown of 2020 he became aware that his levels of anxiety were rising. He spoke to local creative genius Betti (Lizzie) Moretti, asking about what he needed to begin painting. He added “I can’t draw a matchstick man” but Lizzie gave him confidence that “it didn’t matter, just express yourself”. Another local commercial artist Hilary Baker constantly offered inspiration as well.

So paint he did. He often has no idea how he has painted the picture. They are all from the heart, from the soul and they are all carry a story from within himself. They are all (or virtually all) painted without a specific thought in his mind. They reflect his moods, his innermost thoughts through his paint brush. Most reflect an incredibly positive outlook. Some are very reflective. A few were painted when his beloved Dylan Dog became ill and was put gently to sleep in a totally dignified manner.

See if you can spot the ones when his music idols were playing – always loudly and inspiring.
What you can be utterly certain about is that these paintings reflect a searing personal honesty that will hit you more and more as you look into them.

So life’s journey has brought this 76 year old to a new place that he never imagined could exist. His painting has rather taken over his life.
His story will hopefully inspire us all to realise that we may all have hidden talents that we perhaps aren’t brave enough to open to the opportunities of life.

He implores you the viewer to try to view the paintings with your own open mind. It is fair to say that sometimes his photography does not do his paintings full justice!

Whatever you see is for you, not to be influenced by him. One of the positives he takes from his paintings is that people see different things in them. He makes no claim to any subject matter, he likes to “let his brush write the canvas” and just see what the result becomes.

Enjoy your journey through his paintings.
