If love is a sin, then beauty is a crime All things are beautiful in their time

Merry Christmas everybody. I hope you are all having a good time today, it’s still early(ish) so I think I can safely assume there’s not too much alcoholic debris hanging about yet. No doubt there will be an increasing number of you feeling unwell later but, there we are, all you human beings never seem to learn.

I have been encouraged to write today because I have learnt that the important people seem to deliver a Christmas Message. Fairly obviously I am important (at least I think I am – handsome, well balanced, neatly groomed, sylphlike, gentle), whilst I do strongly feel the world needs a dog’s perspective at this time. It’s all very well The Queen and our new Prime Minister Boris (can you actually believe we’ve got Boris in charge, bloody hell) giving out messages but I bet they never been down on a pavement which I reckon rather invalidates their message.

It seems to me that the most valid Christmas Message is always given by Doreen of Tipton. We never miss it here in Rumpy Pumpy Court and I have to tell you that Doreen is this creature’s inspiration on this festive season. From what I have seen and heard, “festive” is rather a misnomer. The shops seem to have become a battleground, where folks use their shopping trolleys as if weapons from Game of Thrones. The hunt for bargains has now extended to fighting over packs of smoked salmon late on Christmas Eve whilst we had best not mention the action in some of the pubs.

I wonder what the baby Jesus would make of this alcoholic rampage that seems to take place over an extended two week period. Was there a bar in Bethlehem that Joseph went to in order to get falling-down drunk and practice projectile vomiting on a daily basis from mid-December? I’m not complaining, or being a misery (that’s Him Indoors, he can be a proper misery), just trying to broaden my knowledge in these matters because we four-legged chaps don’t over indulge in these ways.

I must tell you that we’ve started the day in very positive fashion by The Boss getting YouTube on the go. He’s found a Bruce Springsteen show from Brisbane in February 2014. I have to tell you we haven’t had much Bruce playing lately but this is a great way to start Christmas. We’ve had three dances so far, although my back legs are starting to feel the pressure. The Old Boy has wibble-wobbled his way around the room fairly comfortably although I have no doubt he’ll soon be asleep on my settee.

My Christmas message can be summarized as “take care of your family and friends”. The Boss has received lots of cards, and lots of letters and notes in them. His little face lights up when he opens them, and that’s all the proof I need that staying in touch with folks is an incredibly positive thing.

I wish all my followers a lovely day. I wish we could see you all but fairly obviously that’s impossible for dog who doesn’t enjoy travelling and has become a bit of a home bird in my later years. God bless you all, I send a waggy tail and lots of licks from, I hope, your favourite talking dog.

Woof! Woof!
