Chimes of Freedom

For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones and worse
And for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe
We gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing

Hello everybody.

I’m sorry I’ve been away for so long without writing but the last few months have not been going to plan, that I can assure you. I am Baxter, a pensioner English springer spaniel who has followed Dylan Dog into the literary world.

This new website has been in the mind of Him Indoors for quite a while but it has been slow going.

It was always our intention to move our little blog into the website so that all you good folks could also keep up to date with what The Boss gets up to on his painting front.

Its just that the website has taken longer to create than planned. He tells me its pretty basic but at least all his friends will be able to see his art-work now.

If you didn’t know, since New Year the Old Boy has been a bit poorly. Originally he was diagnosed with a tumour on his one kidney. What confused things was that in all the tests they ran, there was no sign of any cancerous cells. However, after a couple of operations/procedures that are best not discussed in public, it does seem as though cancer may not be involved. He has been quite laid back about it all, although it seems his consultant wasn’t too impressed when His Nibs suggested that any growth on a kidney would probably contain Irish whiskey!

I’ve been a bit spoilt actually – don’t tell His Nibs though – because his pal Zynia came over to look after me the times when he was in hospital. She is great because she takes me for lots of my short walks, which I love. His Nibs only does one or two a day because of his back & knees but Zyn takes me to the park loads.

I did get in trouble though because I managed to get a beech nut stuck in my paw. It seriously hurt. His Nibs thought my arthritis had caught up with me as every time I put my paw down pain shot up my leg and it collapsed under me. The lovely vet dug it out and I’m now back to normal.

We will try to keep my “view from the pavement” coming on a fairly regular basis but no promises. I’m an old boy now and worrying about his Nibs health issues has aged me a little. I find I can’t focus quite as much as I used to do.

The focus improves when keeping an eye on the political scene however. What is going on with our so-called government? It truly seems to be a non-stop catalogue of making announcements as “new ideas” when in reality they all seem to be ideas to repair the damage to everything they’ve done over the previous thirteen years!

Him Indoors has been smiling more since I last wrote. His beloved United have started entertaining again, plus winning as well (at least at home). Still four players short of a team he tells me. He’s a demanding supporter.

I will update you on all things Festival next time. The Boss has not really been involved due to his illness and it will be a little time before he his able to be back at full bore.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy browsing his paintings on the website. I’m sure he would welcome any comments about them, to say nothing about wanting to sell a few.

God bless all, woof woof
