God knows there’s a purpose, God knows there’s a chance; God knows you can rise above the darkest hour, Of any circumstance

I say folks and fans. Do you know this is my fiftieth little set of musings? Fifty!! Crikey, I’m a bit taken aback, in all truth. Him Indoors rather brusquely responded that “if you weren’t such a lazy so and so it could have been a hundred” which I thought was a trifle harsh.

It’s rather nice that my landmark has coincided with Christmas and the New Year. It seems opportune to have bid 2018 goodbye because although it contained lots of good things, we here in Rumpy Pumpy Court will always think of it as the year we lost three good friends.

Despite those losses, I trust all my followers had an enjoyable Festive season. Let’s hope 2019 is a good year for everybody, especially staying healthy.

Speaking from my position on the settee, the year seems to have started rather badly for the nation as our MP’s set themselves up on tribal lines over Brexit. I have tried very hard to understand all of this, but even Him Indoors struggles to explain it to me. What I don’t understand is if it is so important, why can’t all these tribes work together for betterment of the nation.

Even now, when The Maybot asks everybody to join in old Wurzel Gummidge Corbyn refuses to get involved. I watched him last week (and he will be the same tomorrow, no doubt), has anybody else noticed when it is PMQ’s he shouts everything and never actually asks a question of any importance or relevance whatever.

Now I don’t claim to fully understand all the intricacies of politics or Brexit, but as a simple Springer it has always seemed rather obvious to me that these so-called negotiations (negotiations normally mean two sides ending up meeting in the middle having both given concessions but these haven’t met that criteria, as far as I can see) should be discussed on our side by a cross-party team. After all, isn’t it important that MP’s agree on the final result seeing as we are a parliamentary democracy?

Him Indoors has become so bored and frustrated that I leave the settee when anything Brexit related comes on tv. Which has meant I’ve spent a lot of time on the floor recently.

The good news I can bring you all is that The Boss has started watching football again with a smile on his face. I could write you a book about his views on Mr Mourinho. As his close friend, I can now tell you that he has “defended” (how appropriate) the Portugese misery-guts (The Bosses words) through clenched teeth and squeaky bum for the last near three years. It’s alright for all you good folk, you haven’t had to live through his slide into football depression.

He’s told all sorts of stories to his friends trying remain loyal to his beloved United, but the truth is out now. Since God retired over 5 years ago, My Boss has never once leapt from my settee in excitement at a goal for the Reds. Until, that is, the other weekend against Spurs when the Real Boss reappeared in my life, leapt up screaming “GOAL !!! GOAL!! GOAL!! and nearly punched me in the head.

I also leapt up, but mainly in fear of my life at such an outbreak of excitement. His friend Mr Bridges was here and looked genuinely shocked as he had never experienced Him Indoors showing such appreciation. Please God, I hope the good days are back with Ole and I can consign His Miseryness to history.

This has had a significant recharging of Himself because, as you all know, Festive Season is his dark period of the year. We have busily walked the river – look, not too far because I’m getting on now, you know – but we are once again started talking to artists and agents on the phone about Music bookings and Festival possibilities. It’s all very exciting, although Mr Chair still has yet to explain why I can’t go along to the events with him. I love music, let’s face it I’ve no choice with him playing it nearly 24 hours a day everywhere in the house. I know all the words to so many songs, but my most impressive display is the entire “Like A Rolling Stone” with live variations available! Followed by what I think is a near perfect “Born To Run”. I think I could offer a valuable Springer contribution to all the artists.

So together we face a difficult world with a smile and a waggy tail together. We hope all our lovely friends have a smiley year year. I will be back soon.

Woof! Woof!
