Its been a bit of all systems go since The Master returned from his cruise. He came back dangerously full of beans, despite me being, as you know, a bit cool towards him for leaving me behind. Then we had a three day heatwave that meant I was whackered. I am NOT a fan of the heat, especially when I need my coat clipping. Any sort of caring owner would have anticipated the change in the weather, but His Lordship didn’t and I have to wait until this week for my next trim at the lovely Kim’s over in Stourbridge.
Of course, Him Indoors is a well known “hater” of really hot weather. Now your definition of “hot weather” is probably different to his. He is clearly even more over-weight than I am – and I can tell you, handsome that I may be, I do carry a bit of surplus around my middle – therefore his issues have magnified over the years. He tells me that he has always hated hot weather and been a public misery in it. He claims to follow his Mother in this matter. He does burn easily, this I can confirm. P20 is needed for the slightest blue sky. I have seen the evidence. DO NOT ASK!!!! But is there really any need to be so grumpy when the rest of the country is so grateful and enjoys the sunshine so much.
As he has always been a bit of an old lecher – I gather Chris used to just smile, sigh and comment “in your dreams, boy” – he enjoys all the pretty girls strolling on the riverside in their short shorts and little t-shirts but that appears to be the only saving grace for him.
However, I managed to get him out in the heat on all three days to take me to the pub and buy me crisps. I know, I know I should be on a bit of a diet (so my friend Sarah, owner of Lily, and the doggie guru tells me) but please, Summer does not last long (as has been proved – I rest my case).
The riverside was absolutely packed on all those days, but I did feel there were rather too many other canine creatures of all shapes and sizes on what I consider to be my territory. I take the view that as an obviously superior creature, bordering on human, I should just ignore them but that can be hard as some of the little one’s can be rather yappy. They should just be glad to be here.
One of our trips out was with the dangerous Mr Bridges. Him Indoors was quite firm with him this time about consuming only a couple of pints – this was probably due to his football team succeeding in reaching the Cup Final so he felt in a strong position. The Boss hoped he would meet a couple of his Tottenham supporting pals but it was not to be. In fairness, I was granted a few morsels of his late night pizza. I gather Mr Bridges over-did the chilli on his pizza and suffered a difficult night! Thank goodness The Boss doesn’t do hot heat!
The great family event was his lovely boy Robert (he is always so nice to me and I love Mollie, his labradoodle because she makes me appear even more intelligent than ever) reaching the big FIVE O! Him Indoors decided not to subject me to a three hour plus drive to Hove to attend the bash, for which I was grateful and felt he at last was showing me consideration. From all the texts I gather The Baby (ffs he’s 50!!!) spent the weekend (including Friday) in some sort of alcoholic haze only lifted by Ollie playing a few tunes for him in the wine-bar!
Back in the centre of the universe, known as Bewdley, Him Indoors tells me they are all ready to announce this year’s Festival programme. Seeing as he’s been going on about this to me for months, I can only say – thank goodness for that!!!! Can I go back to my own little world now?
Woof! Woof!
