It’s gonna be the meanest flood, that anybody’s seen

Its been too long away I know but I do have some sort of excuse to give you all. The Old Boy was poorly early last month with a bad throat – probably too much talking, knowing him – and then I’ve been poorly for nearly two weeks. I really haven’t felt like doing anything, so I hope all you people will forgive me.

It’s been relatively quiet for me anyway because The Boss has been hard at work with his attempts to persuade artists to appear at the Festival. It gives me plenty of time to sleep whilst he is on the phone or typing in his computer.

Of course the world at large has kept me quite entertained. For example, we’ve had the Harry & Meghan incident to keep our media companies happy. They can be a bunch of scrotums can’t they, the media? I tell you, I don’t envy those royal corgis who had to live in the limelight, their every move photographed and put on show, criticized if they cocked their leg at the wrong time. I’d be no good as a royal I tell you, when I gotta go I gotta go and I don’t care where I am. This attitude has given Him Indoors a few “magic moments” over the years!!!

Outside the royals, I have naturally kept an eye on the changing political landscape. When all the election fuss ended, I assumed we’d be in for a quieter life but that gnome working for Boris – is it Dominic, likely a catholic priest in disguise with that name – is proving to be rather good value. I lay upon my settee watching Politics Live and his name seems to be insinuated into every conversation.  All I’ve ever seen is a wooly hat perched on top of very bad clothes, so I’m not sure he really exists. I reckon he is a media creation that everybody can hate whilst the government run free doing all sorts of barmy things – a bridge between Scotland and Ireland, that will help us folks in Bewdley a lot won’t it!

I’ve written about Scotland before but what is that Sturgeon woman on?? It’s a place where the midges bite you all over, its cold and wet, three men and a dog live there in the wide open heather and yet we give them loads of air-time. Somebody should tell her she’s got 10% of the population, useless land mass and she can bugger off with her independence ideas and count herself lucky if she gets 10% of the GDP as we rebuild our Empire in the next few years. Little Jimmy Crankey, indeed I say!

The Boss has been on top form with the football. He’s happy because he’s subscribed to something on the cheap that gives him his Spanish football live again. Don’t ask me about its attraction – or him, because he’ll bore you for hours – but our weekends now seem to based in Madrid, or Valencia, or Vigo. Maybe because he’s not happy with the United owners but most of all, the Scousers. He’s planning a total hibernation from March to August!!!!! It seems he reckons the world will be full of whooping Scousers and their media chums rejoicing in their success when they finally win the League.

Needless to say, he’s been greatly moved by Abu Dhabi Athletic being found out for cooking the books and apparently being banned from Champions League for two seasons. He reckons they should have every cup, championship, any honour they’ve won since Abu Dhabi arrived as owners taken away because they’ve been non-stop cheating.

Finally, I would be remiss not to keep you all informed about our recent drama regarding floods. Him Indoors has always praised the Environmental Agency (EA) for their planning of erecting the flood barriers. He’s told me many times that we only live by the river because of the flood barrier scheme otherwise we would be up the hill.

But last weekend the beloved EA made a cock-up, failed to put up the barriers in time and at about 5.00am we had a foot of water sweep through the courtyard.

I didn’t understand what was happening, but we were ok and the water only came up to the top of the steps outside. Some of our neighbours were not so lucky and had about 7 or 8 inches of water in their houses. I wasn’t allowed out for a few hours, which made everything a bit tricky but we survived.

Since I last wrote I’ve had my birthday. The Boss didn’t make a big fuss about it but I did have a bit of a cuddle and some steak for tea. Can’t be bad!

Take care everybody.

Woof! Woof!

So glad to get an update! It’s been an age – still us NZers aren’t in a fit state to complain – the Christmas card I wrote was found in the bottom of my bike pannier the other day! Sorry about that! Glad to hear that you didn’t have to doggy paddle anywhere. Love Sarah and Andrew x
