I’ve had a bit of an incident. I personally didn’t think much of it, but it appears others thought differently. We were out for our morning constitutional, as we do fairly early every day. I am a creature of habit and routine, as I believe I have mentioned before, and I was carrying my ball when I felt the need “to go” if you know what I mean. Anyway, the Boss was clearing up (he’s a bit obsessed about doing this, forever complaining about owner’s who don’t do it), and I was still feeling “a bit personal” when a Yorkie dog starts sniffing around me and jumping about.
Now then, I ignore most dogs because obviously I am not really a dog. I am far superior to most of them but one thing that does irritate me are little dogs who are jumping about lively fashion. But this little rat-like creature wound me up, and I was feeling a bit personal about my space. So I set about him by grabbing his neck, giving him a good shake and bearing my fine white teeth. I attempted to throw him in the river (or so it apparently appeared to his owner) who went a little bit bonkers even though unbelievably he had another one with him on a lead, and to the Boss who was rather caught with a bag-full of the smelly stuff in one hand whilst trying to grab my collar with his other. That was funny!. The chap’s owner was properly put out, and I was made to apologise profusely whilst the Boss seemed ready to throw me in the river in his rage!!!
I had let the rodent go, who scurried off, whilst I smiled sweetly at the boss and set about finding my ball, which I had dropped in the scuffle.
Thankfully he soon forgave me, saw the funny side of life and rather than throwing me in the river, we were soon chasing the ball around the park.
He came back from a night out yesterday full of beans. It’s a long time since I’ve seen him so alive, so enthused. He cracked open a bottle of red wine, found a bag of M & M’s, put the telly on to watch his United (this is midnight , for goodness sake) and then…played a Jason Isbell concert! Loud! Very loud! Very very loud!
It seems he had been to see Mr Isbell and his band The 400 Unit in Birmingham. And they were more than good! He told me – often and regularly – that it was the best concert he’d been to in 30 years!!!
He did emphasise – as if I didn’t know – that you have to take the concerts of The Maestro Dylan out of the equation. But he reckoned that it was as good as Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen were in their pomp. Be warned, let me tell you that is serious praise.
I did give you a couple of links in one my epistles a couple of weeks ago, so I recommend if you haven’t had a listen you should. He doesn’t rave like this very often.
He’s been on a “high” all day today, which is trouble when I want to sleep. He’s had me outside chasing the ball all day, he’s been playing Mr Isbell ALL day non-stop whilst doing his stuff. The power of positive thinking, the power of emotional uplift!
Tonight they’ve been going on about “sex scandals”. I’m bored – after all, when you’ve had your bits chopped off you tend not to have much interest in such things.
Finally, I leave you with a question. Have you bought the Christmas cards yet? Him indoors has, they are on the table awaiting action. No doubt they will be there many weeks. Just as long as we don’t have to suffer any Christmas carols. They are a step too far.
Woof! Woof!
