Party Party Party

I must be getting old. My dog years are catching up I reckon. I used to run all day, chasing a ball, then run all night again. Sleep? Didn’t need it. Partying with pals to the early hours. No problem. Never been a fan of the heat though. But it seems that all those late nights, early mornings are catching up with me now.

The guvnor had a bit of a bash at the Hall on Saturday. Many friends and family – he said that’s who they were – me I’m less certain, judging by the motley band of folks who turned up. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to be present, but the great Lady Jane who manages the place gave me special dispensation to attend.

I was able to roam about for hours. I was well spoiled, especially after the food arrived. It was brought in from Piccolos (a neat little coffee shop in Bewdley) and I’ve got to tell you, it wasn’t far from being a doggie heaven, never mind a humans extraganza. Except these so called friends and family kept saying “it’s not good for you Dylan”. But I just know that a bit of sit-up begging, rolling my big brown eyes whilst staring hard at them with an occasional wag of the tail normally works. It did.

I worked the whole room, corner to corner, up and down, back and forward, sometimes carrying my ball just to add a light hearted touch for play. I kept at it for hours.

He had some great music, a local gang called Swallows who had two rather good guitarists with two really gorgeous girl singers. They could harmonise so well. Then a young American lady from Alabama, Hannah Aldridge, with an angel’s voice sang to us. I tried to get on the stage when she was singing, I was so impressed.

But….I was completely knackered by the end. Could barely move – might have been the food? – and I put this down to the great heat! Couldn’t possibly be my age..or the drink…or the food? No, I didn’t think so. It took me all yesterday to fully recover. Thank god he went out to lunch and I could have a sleep after all his morning visitor’s had gone.

Friends are a really important part of life I reckon. When I meet Timmy, or Lily, or Tess or the other guys around the park it’s always such fun. It seemed that way for the Master this weekend, he seemed really happy and full of laughter. I was sat with him when he was talking with some chaps whom he had known for over 50 years. 50 years! How long is that??!!

He has lots of new friends as well, who he tells me have helped him create his “new life”. He’s a lucky boy, isn’t he? Friends and families who make us smile, that seems a nice way to finish today.

Woof! Woof!
