I’ve not been well. I’ve been very uncomfortable and embarrassed. All through kindness (and possibly my gluttony). Him Indoors was very kind and, as a special treat, bought me a Pigs Ear. I loved it, it was smashing. I loved it so much that I ate it very quickly in one afternoon. Therein may lay the trouble – I probably should have made it last. But I didn’t and so……five days of a VERY dodgy doggy tummy resulting in several deeply unpleasant moments (rear end wise!!) .
However, every cloud has a silver lining and my incapacity meant that I was able to “enjoy” the big moments of this General Election. It did mean a VERY late night – or early morning, more truthfully – but it did bring some highlights that kept me entertained.
I have learnt a lot of new words, normally accompanying the arrival of the latest Labour front-bencher spouting nonsense reasons they lost or some smarmy Tory gloating. But I should begin with the night.
“It will be close”, The Boss tells me as we settled down in bed to await the Exit Poll on the TV. “Hung parliament” he nods at me, knowingly. Hmmm. Just these two statements alone should tell you all you need to know about his political instincts.
I learnt several new combinations of words when the Poll result came on the screen. I leant even more when a bloke called Gardiner appeared to try to explain why The Old Trot had been despatched to Never Never Land by the electorate and was never going to give us free broadband after all.
We had some ancient Tory trying to explain that Boris was “a man of his word” and would unite the nation despite obviously being a bit of a racist and had a record of telling lies worse than any living human being.
The Boss did get angry (another new set of words to learn as he yelled in a random combination of obscenities!) when it became obvious the Corbyn Crew were blaming the media and Brexit for their obliteration.
He became very upset as his disappointed fellow travellers appeared on screen to express their sadness, disgust and indignation of the campaign.
It was quite a night, which has continued for a couple of days as we listened to tv and radio, read the newspapers, talked with friends, exchanged texts and generally considered the rather none too pleasant options for the next few years.
I simply thought my little tummy trouble actually reflected quite well the result!!!!
Woof! Woof!
He’s got a sweet gift of gab, he got a harmonious tongue
He knows every song of love that ever has been sung
Good intentions can be evil
Both hands can be full of grease
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace
