The Boss returned home, slumped on the settee, took off his shoes. He stroked my head, cuddled my ears and told me that I could relax “the festival was over”. I gave him one of my knowing looks. As if “it’s ever over” my look implied. But you never know, maybe he will stop leaving me alone every evening, then expecting me to know which songs (and artists) have been good on either Radio Paradise or Wrecking Ball Radio whilst he’s been out in order that he can check them out and maybe bring the artists to his “Music in the Hall” nights.
Apparently Festival was a great success, although some things made him grumpy. Not the acts, of which he didn’t see any bar one – his crossword mate, so he said. He talked a lot about how brilliant the people were who helped to make it run smoothly. Over the years I’ve seen him at his best with people in a team, he loves them being successful for themselves and together. He’s not very keen on folks who don’t give respect to a team. Who claim the glory. Credit where credit is due, he tells me, and the team is always the greatest thing of all. I know this view all too well. If I start playing “the big I am” with my mates in the park, he sorts me out a bit painfully, I can tell you. My food stakes go down a lot as well!
Meanwhile, I’ve been watching the news. Now I do fully realize you may find the idea of a dog being into current affairs a bit odd, but you must remember I’m a dog in body only. I personally am absolutely certain I am not a dog. At worst I am trans-gender (wtf?), or perhaps I am LGBT (wtf?) at best. But of one thing I’m certain, I’m not a simple dog. My proof of this is that I think dog-food is shite, whilst Festival Sausages or rib-eye steak are absolutely fabulous. Tins of dog-food are a poor substitute for sea bass, of this I can assure you.
Back to the news. Brexit. What is this all about? Why do the newspapers, tv and radio keep going on about it. To my rather (I may say) sharp eye, it is obviously never going to happen. Mainly because that bloke Juncker – he really is a tosser, isn’t he – is so useless that eventually we’ll all get so fed up with it we’ll decide to just forget it, it’s all too much trouble. Pity though, it might be worth a try, but in truth I’d like to bite his arse and cock my leg over his undoubtedly poncey shoes in order to remind him that we’re the greatest nation on earth and why doesn’t he understand!!
Then there’s Trump. Mmmmm??? Probably best not get involved about him, he makes me bark a lot.
I’d like to give my trusty friends a couple of tips. I know this is new – me giving you tips – but I have had the chance to watch some good tv recently with the boss. First tip: bbc4 – The Vietnam War. A quite brilliant history full of previously unknown facts that shows the treachery and deceit that took place. Second tip: bbc 2 – billion dollar deals – if this doesn’t bring you into 21st century nothing will!!!
This months music tip: Here are two links to YouTube Live Stream from The Ryman Theatre in Nashville featuring Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell!
