Well I wake in the morning, fold my hands and pray for rain; I got a head full of ideas, that are drivin’ me insane; It’s a shame she makes me scrub the floor, I ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more

I’m was lay on The Boss’s bed watching the pictures of the visit of President Trump. It appears Trumpy is not happy with the proposed Brexit deal and has managed to confirm for the nation what we all knew – that the poor old Maybot has annoyed everybody of every single persuasion! Some achievement he commented, perhaps it proves its actually a great document if everybody is unhappy!

Him Indoors tells me that he’s beyond caring anymore, that he forecast the establishment would never let it happen so who’s surprised. His often expressed ambivalence to the whole thing (doubted by some but the truth I can actually confirm) was explained to me on one terribly dreary evening over, I assume, a fine bottle of Chiroubles when I received the whole story of his dealings with the EU. “Crooks” (was the mildest criticism), “they hate the Brits” but “pretty essential” to our stability was the thinking.

As for the afore-mentioned Trumpy, he gets very confused. The NATO thing “he’s right, Europe are cheapskates” seemed to get the thumbs-up but “he’s a Fascist”  makes me think he’s not a fan.

Football all ended in tears, didn’t it? The Boss thinks anybody crying over football needs some sort of psychological treatment VERY urgently. “It’s only a game” he shouted at the England fans weeping (he excludes players apparently, on the grounds that they are all already psychologically damaged), “it’s only a game, somebody has not died, we’ve not gone to war” he explained (loudly) to nobody.

We are in to some serious music playing here, as well. Not just the normal stuff – ie Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Jason Isbell – but loads of new stuff being recommended for artists to feature in his music nights. Shooter Jennings anyone? (son of Waylon) Orphan Colours? Lilly Hiatt? (son of John) Get searching my friends, he’s on a roll!!!! Does he ever let you down. I dance around the living-room to his choices so often!

Truth to tell I’ve been a bit off-colour recently. Firstly, bit of an injured rear leg (or paw), but I refused to let Him Indoors near me and then something in my ear (sting, fly, grass?) I don’t know. Took a few days to get back to normal. He does panic so, love him. Fusses around me and in this heat has taken to putting a wet, cold towel on me to make me cooler. It’s a proper pain but, actually, it does help.

I’ve been away for a night at Auntie Rachel’s whilst His Lordship went off for a reunion with lots of his former colleagues. He returned a bit tired and slightly aggressive through lack of sleep and some sort of hangover. It was fun to watch the World Cup Final!

But more of his reunion adventure next time! I gather it was fun and emotional!

Woof! Woof!
